Founded in 1988 as an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, HAHFH has provided 14 homes for local families and now averages one build per year. Houses are built with the “sweat equity” of our partner family homeowners who work side-by-side with volunteers. Professional contractors help to build more advanced components to code, and volunteers finish the rest.
Habitat homes are sold to partner families at a lower cost than most houses. Habitat for Humanity uses a no-profit, zero-interest mortgage to keep monthly payments low to each deserving family.
Each year, individuals and group volunteers from corporate, faith, educational, and community groups come to build and learn more about how to help solve Huntingdon County’s affordable housing crisis. Find out more about volunteering and owning a Habitat home.
